Unity Echo
A downloadable game for Windows and Android
I played a bunch of Lone Echo and got inspired to re-create the zero-G mechanics from Lone Echo and Echo Arena. Since very few games have them. Their https://www.gdcvault.com/play/1024446... gdc talk helped a bunch.
The prototype Includes:
- Tablet Physical UI
- Procedural Hand Animations
- Zero-G Physically Based movement
- Physically based interactions
- Full Upper Body IK
The prototype was developed and tested using a Meta Quest 2 using the touch controllers connected to a PC.
There are still some issues that I didn't have the time to figure out. Stuff like:
- Thumb finger IK
- Lower body procedural sway
But besides that, it should function similarly to lone echo's mechanics. Of course, the prototype uses Unity's physics and we don't get access to the low-level code. So there was some trial and error to get things to feel good. I added a blockout level and some light puzzle objectives to get a feel for the mechanics, but nothing complex.
Check out the unedited gameplay on youtube.

Known Issues:
You can clip through the geometry if you really try, say by rotating while grabbing at a wall.
